Mel, I removed the FC igniter all together and just kept the resistor in place which is hooked up to the - side of the FC coil on one end and to the stock - wire on the other. Then I have the stock + wire going to the + on the FC coil.
Thanks, Ed

I am running the 2nd gen leading coil with my 6A in direct fire mode. I love it. The 2nd gen igniter is no longer used as already stated. I do not have the resistor in place which was purely an oversight on my part when I hooked it up but I have never had any problems. I have a spare coil, resistor, and MSD lying around if I ever do have an issue though so I'm not too concerned. I have never tried it with separate coils on the leading but can't imagine it getting too much nicer and I have no intention of changing. It was already a huge difference from the stock setup. When I do change it, it will be to full ignition control through my Megasquirt anyways.

I made comparison using a timing light and 13Btoy confirmed it. As he described it, the light is constant (like a flashlight) on a coil set-up while with the FC, the light is intermitent as in flash, pause, flash, pause. Several months ago, I converted my son's FB and my RX-3 to FC coil , but I wasnt happy as the engine didnt run as hard as before. So I switched back to coil set-up. Maybe its just me but I tried it on 2 cars with similar set-up.
