Thumbs up MPG report - 1k mile roadtrip

Well after a nice weekend roadtrip to Road America for the American Le Mans Series and
The Midwest Rotary Rally, I have good news to report on my MPG for the trip.

65-75MPH on highways quite a bit of traffic and congestion in areas.]

1st fillup - 227.5miles - 25.91MPG - Highway morning 60's
2nd fillup - 230.5miles - 23.81MPG - Highway noon-afternoon 70's
3rd fillup - 140.0miles - 21.86MPG - Around town 60-70's
4th fillup - 236.4miles - 25.70MPG - Highway afternoon 70's
5th fillup - 267.7miles - 23.92MPG - Highway night 60's

Not bad I'd say, Original 13B block with 124k on her

I'm always suprised to hear people getting low 20s or less for highway MPG. My 12a cars used to get 28 on highway trips.

best I've got was 25 with my old -se. Now I get a best of 22 with the 13b-re and haltech. I think I can get more out of it with a little tweeking of the target mv for the closed loop on the haltech.

i drove my 87 TII to texas and back, it was all stock... when i kept it at 75 mph i'd get 28 mpg... when i kept it at 80 i'd get 30 mpg... my 88 TII with 720 cc secondaries and turbo upgrades, as well as 3" exhaust, light flywheel, and lots of other goodies, got 23 mpg highway...

i got 22.25mpg on my car doing 80 all for 2.5 hours straight.... i know i run rich though, i'm gonna try to drop the fuel pressure and see if i pick up some more power.

my problem is, my gas gauge when the tank is full reads about 3/4 to 2/3 full... so i have no idea at all when the tank is ACTUALLY empty, so my range is limited to about 170-180 miles because after that the gauge is on E.

The correct way to measure mileage is fill the tank, go drive then fill it up again then divide the miles into the fuel it took to fill the tank back up.

Dude I run rich too, lol...I actually backfire slightly sometimes, but my estimated MPG is supposed to be somewhere near 21 MPG...

I just got back from sevenstock. 300 miles each way and averaged 20 MPG with a 13B 4 port/holley 600/ streetported and RB streetport exhaust. I think that was real good...

I finally had a chance to do a highway-only check of my fuel consumption. I did 10L/100km or 23.5mpg(US). My speed ranged between 70 and 75mph most of the way with 10 minutes of gridlock on the 401 hwy.

My in-town running around (driving the way a 7 should be driven with the odd redline), has been about 16mpg.

I'm at 16 mpg too with a ported GSL-SE in city driving. That was my first tank though and I had my foot into it plenty. Hopefully with a more reasonable driving I can get it a little better...

I did 10L/100km or 23.5mpg(US).

You are getting better than you thought then (12L/100km = 23.5mpg).

Driving back and forth to work (about 13mi one-way), I am averaging right around 17-18mpg on a very consistent basis.

This is shifting at 4k, A/C running most of the time; I'm sure that my aero mods are killing some of my mpg, however. My CAI and RamAir should be helping somewhat, but I haven't noticed any improvement other than increased frontal noise. All other systems are in excellent working order including fresh oil changes, 35psi tire pressures and overall excellent maintenance.

Would be interesting to take off all my aero stuff and see if it changes... (naw, too much trouble!)
