Sure! 6port motors respond *very* well to porting, contrary to conventional wisdom (usually of those with no experience, parroting what they've heard). Anyway, my SE port job, which I did a few years back for the Grassroots Challenge, deleted the auxiliary sleeves and utilized Teflon to form the radiused "bowl" of the aux port for improved flow. Here are some pics:

This was a rather extreme, so-called "rally", streetport. It maximizes port timing by undercutting the corner seals by half (you only need to support half to keep it from falling out and destroying the engine). But, it didn't lack torque or have any vices other than a bit of lope at idle. With the stock EFI and stock exhaust manifold/cat-back (cat-replacement pipe was the only upgrade) I ran a 14.7 quarter mile time even with it falling on it's face at half track due to fuel starvation (stock fuel pump, too). Later, my driving partner snapped the tranny output shaft on a bogged launch...we were trying to get some wheel spin to save the driveline, but it hooked up and promptly broke. Oops!

Hope that helps...

I replied to your PM, but for anyone else interested, any local plastic supplier should carry it. Pricy, but you only need 6 inches or less, total. However, I would recommend people just use the Pineapple Racing 6-port sleeve inserts as they both improve flow and retain the functionality of the auxiliary ports. Rob Golden (Pineapple Racing owner) is the one who came up with the Teflon idea, by the way.

You have NO idea! When he taught me to port engines, it was a graduate-level class on things like encouraging laminar flow on the roof of the port and a turbulent boundary layer in the bowl. When he taught me to build custom exhausts, it was a lesson in standing pressure wave tuning and "critical" lengths. Intakes? Heimholz (sp?) resonator effect. Suspensions? Pinion angles, seal drag, backlash, preload, etc. Getting the picture? When I met Rob, I had practically no automotive experience and certainly no rotary engine knowledge. After the first couple years of association, I created my RotaryEngineIllustrated.com web site and the following year I wrote an article on porting for New Zealand Performance Review magazine...to be considered an "expert" by Kiwis is quite an honor! Those guys are hard core. And, I still learn something new every time I talk to Rob. At the shop, I get to see all his cool secret projects, like the super-high (30+) boost single rotor turbo engine, thermal coating experiments, and über-strong tension bolts. Too bad I can't tell you about the other stuff...

Also, will 12a centerplates work in a 13b (1985) 6 port. I understand these are much more portable. I wonder if a big streetport on some 12a combined with opening up the 5th & 6th ports with the actuators would work nice. Certainly sounds nice, even maybe a small bridge on the 12a plates to balance well with the 5&6 ports for better top end balance.

yes the 12A intermediate plate will work in a 6 port, thats the intermediate plate i have in my 6 port, and i ported it pretty nicely, and could have done more if i wanted... as for a template... if you just follow the lines on ur plates, u can't go wrong... a template will not help you with the 3d aspect of it, only the basic shape... heres my first and only thus far, porting experience...

and they actually look better now that atkins cleaned up my plates... they didn't clean up the ports any, but they sandblasted and painted all my plates...

that is a huge port job on the six ports. Do you have this running?? Is that an aggressive streetport on the intermediate? What is the idle and performance like??
