Mounting O2 sensors

I'm considering installing a couple of oxygen sensors in my carbed 12a to help me tune my Dellorto better. I have a Racing Beat Street Port Exhaust, with two pipes that run all the way to the rear axle, so I plan on installing two O2 sensors. How far away should the O2 sensors be from the engine. I remember hearing 24 inches at one point in time. What does everybody else think? How far away is the one on the SE's?

I hear all this talk about "dual exhaust systems", but I've never seen a picture. Can you or someone else post one please?

the stock O2 sensor for the SE is at the left side of the exhaust manifold( directly in line between the junction of the engine and the trannny) if you were standing on the passenger side of the car.

No one has any clue as to how far away the sensors should be mounted from the engine?
