Motor Swap Question

Guys my brother just bought a first gen drag project...He was originally going to drop his jspec 13b-rew into his 2nd gen but he changed his mind...

What motor mount is used for the swap? Any help would be great...I heard that swapping out the front oil cover and oil pan will not work...Im not sure how true that is, that and i haven't taken a look at the front oil cover to see for any differences...

My main question is will i have to fab up a custom motor mount? if so thats no big deal, just looking for the easiest and quickest swap to get this **** dropped in thanks..

The usual method is using a GSL-SE front cover. But the S5 and FDs have electronic mops. If this is strictly a drag project, the e-mop can be tied off to the side, a 12A or SE front cover used and pre-mix. I would also recommend installing the RB engine torque brace.

So just to make so were clear here...

Were running a 13b-rew motor and the "GSL-SE FRONT OIL COVER" will work correct?

Thank you...I was told that the FD bolt pattern on the front of the fd front oil cover were different and the gsl-se front oil cover wouldn't work, and that i would have to go another route...

If that is the case i have 1000 front gsl-se oil covers and oil pan's...good looking out with the info man thanks you again...

The oil pan will not bolt up, the bolt holes are different.

There are a few threads on a REW in a first gen setup.

If one pre-mixes, it doesn't matter which front cover is used. The SE oil pan has to be used to clear the center link of the steering system.

I know that...I have never done the swap with a FD motor...

I have done s4 s5 and 13b swaps all day using the GSL-SE Front oil cover on my SA with no problems

I'm looking for a straight answer...

yes or no on a on the oil pan?

Do i change the oil pan as well?

You need to use the GSL-SE oil pan; however you need to either re-drill the holes in the pan (use an FD gasket to make the template) or drill and tap the housings........drilling the pan is a lot easier!
