Easy if your willing to slave at them.

I got the idea from a couple buddies of mine who polish their motor bike frames religiously. Check out www.projectbike.com these are some crazy kids.

IT can be done with the tires on the rim or off the rim. It's alot easier with them off the rims and you will be able to do a better job.

1. Buy a couple cans of Aircraft coating remover

2. Spray a ton of the stuff on all your rims let is soak for an hour the rinse (wear gloves and a mask this stuff is terrible and causes cancer) but it strips paint, clearcoats and even skin really well.

3. Sand the rims working your way from 180 grit up to 1500 grit (i went 180 , 220, 400, 600, 1000, 1500) I used an orbital sander and I took about an hour a rim.

4. get an electric buffer buy some aluminum polish and start buffing until your rims looks like mirrors.

I didnt use a clear coat afterwards (I tried it once and had to start over agian, looked terrible) Three months later they still look good. Just wash them every week and buff them every three to four months.

 

Okay that settles it, now that all the mechnicals are in good shape it's time to do some "cosmetic" work on the 'ol rex. Thanks for the info!

 

Why does the car have the + wheels in two pictures and the SE wheels in the other? Did you upgrade your suspension as well?
