As I prepare to reinstall the instrument cluster in my 85 GSL, I can find plugs for the two round pin-outs, but for only one of the two tab connectors. I have the plug that attaches to the tab connector circled in green. Can't find one for the tab connector circled in red. As per my prior post, I did label everything when it came out,, but that was more than a year ago. Maybe there is no plug for this? I tried to decipher the wiring diagram on Fox...but I'm not very good at reading those.
I found this plug on the lower steering column shroud, which apparently provides for a courtesy light to the ignition switch. It happens to fit onto the empty tab/blade connector on the instrument cluster in the prior photo, but there is no way the lead is long enough to reach from under the steering column and then up to the instrument cluster. And...why would a courtesy light get fed from the instrument cluster....makes no sense to me. Assuming they don't relate to each other, then I also have to find a lead to plug into the ignition courtesy light.
I swear if I ever do this again (and if I do, I won't wait 18 months to re-assemble), I will label, video, and photograph EVERYTHING. Argh.
I had a deep read of the 'body electrical' wiring manual. There is a pin-out description of the back of the instrument cluster on pg. 23 The spade connectors circled in red in my photo are: 'battery' and 'oscillator'. Still haven't found a wiring harness plug for them, and not sure what is meant by 'oscillator'. 85RX7(15)Body_Electrical (foxed.ca)

The Oscillator is up by the battery *little black box that is attached to the header panel behind the battery. That being said, the connector that would attach to the cluster would need to be buried under the dash by the firewall.
Yes, that IS helpful. I can see your ignition illumination light in the upper photo. I can see the pigtail is plugged into SOMETHING, but I can't see where that plug comes from. I can see what looks like a green/blue wire that maybe is a lead coming out of the wiring harness? Can you show me the 'backside' of that photo? Taken from the point where your knee is? So that I can see where the green/blue wire is going to?
Thanks!
Remember that mine is an 83... I don't know if the colors all math on an 85. Here's the angle you wanted, it looks like the red/black from the bulb plug into blue+yellow (??) and green+blue. It's hard to see the exact colors.
And in this shot, that connector is hiding below, the arrow is just kissing the connector ( I wrapped foam stuff on it and some others to keep noise down from vibrating against the cowling).
This is how you would determine which plug to use. In the 85 FSM(Factory Service Manual), pages 50:29 and 50:30 show the schematic and plug layout. The schematic shows plug H04 with colors LY (Blue with Yellow stripe) and GL (Green with Blue stripe).

When I took my fb apart I labeled everything and used the fsm pin numbers as well. I have an actual FSM for an ‘85 for sale if you want a book to reference and write in. Pm me f you are interested.
Thanks @eprx799. I don't plan to keep the '85 after I've finished the restoration. However, I do have an '84 GS that I plan to keep for a while. Would the FSM apply to that or would I be better to have a bespoke '84 FSM?
Ya, I thought I labeled all the wiring plugs when I dismantled the dash. But apparently, I missed a couple. The other plug I can't find now seems to be one that attaches to the instrument cluster and goes to the 'oscillator'. Very frustrating. Maybe it got buried somewhere when I put the dash back in. I really don't want to take it out again, so I've got my mirrors and inspection cam working an APB for the plugs that are MIA. Now I'm not sure if I am pretending to be a mechanic or a detective.
Thanks. Well, I am getting better at reading wiring diagrams. Yep, I know what I am looking for now. If I can't find the plug, I should be able to tap into those wires from the bundle.
