More Dumb Turbo Questions

80 model 7 12-a very heavy street port, Turbo, ported turbo manifolds 600cfm carb (its the only carb i have at this time)

this car has an old bea or bae turbo setup on it. with the old engine i had around 15-18 Lbs of boost and fullpower to 10k

with the new ported engine its losing power around 8500 rpm and only have a max of 10-12 Lbs
it actually seemed to have more power with the old engine

so what turbo flows really good around 10-11k on a ported 12-a without going totally overboard

also if anyone has any information on the bea-bae turbo kit please feel free to pass it on this was not a bonnet style setup
yes i know the turbo is starting to go!!

Also, turbo choice on those RPM levels all depends on flow maps. RPM =\= turbo

3mm steel? Carbon? Ceramic? Cyroed or not, Steel is steel. Steel will chatter over 8400-8500RPM.

Get ceramic seals, hardened Stationary gears, 3 window bearings, 3rd gen corner springs, balanced rotating assembly, oil pressure mods, clearenced rotors, scatter shield for transmission, set screws in the rotor bearings, etc etc.

i like the big *** yellow coils, LOL

im sure he is running atkins apex seals since they did the motor build..

well, in answer to your question those turbo kits made good power but will not sufice your needs.. you will need a much larger turbo, intercooler and a bigger carb, a couple of msd 6al boxes to see the gains in power your looking for

as far as the search button goes ive been reading a week and nobody simply answers the question of a decent turbo setup for a 12-a like use this turbo for this rpm range would be a great answer to me

yes its atkins apex seal everything in the engine was upgraded from what dave atkins said
and as hard as ive pushed this engine i believe him

I actually have 2 6al msd's now if i just knew how to hook them up
its a draw type turbo kit
i guess i gotta pull the turbo and find out what the numbers are on it for identifocation
kinda hard to get all this done right now....the doc said i couldnt walk for a week got a sore on my bad leg
it sucks being an amputee...but i get good parking at wal-mart

It will rev there. It just won't make any power.

Thats funny REVHED But it made power all the way to 11K then quickly started dying My guess lack of air/fuel mixture

Then the turbo started dying slowly(losing boost and slightly smoking and getting worse by the day now) now Im looking for a bigger replacement but dont have a clue as to which one to get .Im looking for the bolt and go option here
but noone seems to know which one I need
