I have a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GS with 90,000 miles on it. I love the car. Recently, I have added a Racing Beat Full exhaust (no cats), and a custom cold air intake system. I am still looking for some more power but I really don't know where to go now. Would replacing my stock air filter with a K&N one do me any good? I have heard about people talking about taking the emmisions controls off, but I do not really know what I am getting myself into and there is no one who I can go to for help around me. Then I heard about this nitros system by NOS that is an actual "cap" that goes right into the intake (screws on with the wing nut already in the intake) that injects just a bit of nitros into the system. I think it is called something like "Sneeky pete". Is this an option to consider even though I have a great deal of miles on my car?

Basically, what I am asking is what is the easiest and safest way to get power. I do not want to screw with porting it as well. Thanks for your imput.

90k miles is nothing.

Less than that, even.

I've never heard of that system, but injecting nitrous before the carb sounds dangerous to me

I beileve Denny on the forum has ~300,000miles on his GSL-SE and it's still going very strong. 90k miles is nothing at all if you take care of it properly.

Injecting nitrus like that = big no no. It might be okay if you had fuel injection, because the computer would realize it needs to inject more gas to compensate for it, but a carb won't do that, you will run VERY lean when you inject, and your motor will go kaboom.

Get a better carb, either a weber, dellorto, or holley, electric fan and direct fire ignition(MSD or DLIDFIS). If you keep the stock carb, then remove all emissions, take off airpump, and get a k&n filter. Unless you port or turbo then you will not get more than ~150hp.

Yeah, the more I think about it. That nitrous thing would be a bit dangerous. Thanks for the advice.

Mis-information. It's not the Sneaky Pete system. It's called a tophat injector. Both nitrous and fuel are sprayed down the carb venturi by the ring which is secured by the air-cleaner wing nut. It's for square-bore Holleys only, though. They don't recommend the system for Quadrajets or Thermoquads and the Nikki functions just like those class of carbs...primaries much smaller than the secondaries....still, just a 50 shot...what could that possibly do? You can't bend a rod, right??
