Modifications needed for a 12a Turbo swap.
I asked this in another forum, but I've yet to get any replies. I was wondering what modifications I would need to do in order to fit a 12a Turbo into my 1983 GSL. Will it fit directly into the stock automatic tranny (I will change it to a five speed eventually, I just wanted the engine first)? Will it fit under the hood without cutting a section out, or buying a new hood all together? Those kinds of things.

I'm gonna go ahead and say yes to all those questions, even though I havent done this. The 12AT was non-intercooled is i remember correctly, so the hood should be alright. same bolt pattern for the transmission, so youre good there

It'll fit under the hood, and most people go front mount intercooler, so that leaves plenty of room under there. I might reccomend swapping the tranny at the same time, but that is up to you(once you've got it running, you won't want to stop driving it long enough to do the full tranny swap). Good luck with this swap. There are lots of people on this forum who have done it so you will have a lot of support.
