which model do i have ?

some of you chaps are quite knowledgable and can pick up quite quickly whether one has a gs or a gsl-se or whatever. All i know is i have a 1982 rx7. here are some clues. It had an external regulator for the alternator (similar to your 79 models). There is no sunroof. BUT it has disk brakes all around and has the washer nozzles on the front bumper. It also has the oil cooler mounted under the radiator. To me it sounds like mazda just bastardised the thing when they sold it here. any thoughts ?

GSL-SE was 84-85 only, had the 13B engine and was sold just in North America.

82's all had the air/oil cooler under the radiator.
The GSL's with factory rear discs would usually have a sunroof and all the options,so it could be an S or GS with a disc rearend added on,like boyee said.

What other options are there?.....A/C,P-windows,P-mirrors,leather,alloy wheels?......

yep, it had factory fitted a/c (I've since removed). yes, has power windows. Only has one mirror for driver and that is power too. also has power rear hood release and power petrol flap release. no leather, but the damn 13" 109x4 alloys

i bet someone in s.a. just special ordered one to their exact likings.
if it has power windows, disc rear, and bumper sprayers then it is a gsl. disc rear was only available on gsl's. odd it doesnt have a sunroof or leather.

Sorry to burst everyone bubble, but the "rest of the world" models do not follow the same g gs gsl gsl se path as american sevens

Argentinian sevens are just like S.African sevens. They do not come with a model badge, on the tittle does not say anything aside Rx-7, and if you look closely, you will notice that despite the fact that the body is S2, the VIN says SA22C

Mine came in sunfire gold, sporting electric foldable barn door style mirrors, rotor shaped wheels, discs all around, but no LSD, no rats nets, no air pump, no emissions whatsoever, not even a cat.

You have a "rest of the world" seven, but do not worry, you are not the only one

Bet you didnt notice that you do not have lights on the side moldings and the front bumper lenses are white/orange

Also, the license plate is "aussie style", between the tail lights

here are some pics !

350miles now since rebuild. Today at the lights I pulled up behind an e36 beemer 328i. he saw me in the mirror...lights changed...we pull away....in second I pull out on the left and go past....into third...into 4th....then back into that lane...now the beemer is in my mirror. Another set of lights.....green...the beemer is large in my mirror...second...third...fourth....the beemer is but a spec ! We hit some traffic...beemer in my mirror again....the road forks. I got to the left...he goes straight...as he passes, he hoots and waves. Some acknowledgment/respect at least.
