Moded my SA some, here is my results

Here is what I have done so far.

- Removed rats nest
- New plugs, coils, ignition control module, wires, cap, rotor.
- Rebuilt carb
- Manuel secondarys
- Removed air pump, heat exchanger, ACV
- RB header
- RB mini pulse pre silencer with all new gaskets
- Ported and matched intake manifold P runners
- 90ish PSI compression hot

The exhaust is much nicer then the stock crap. Opens it up a good bit but sounds like a beefy lawn mower compared to my 13b’s, we will see how the RB muffler changes this. I would not mined a little more louder and same more throat to it and we will see how this changes again with the muffler. I notice a little more power around 2 to 4k with this exhaust setup and it flattens out from 6k on. My radio quickly over comes any exhaust note so makes a great daily driver exhaust. With the muffler this kit is a little pricy to me for what you get but is super high quality.

The manifold did help some but not very much the draw back is the ports in the carb not being big enough to take advantage of the size of the new runners. On this I did notice the manual secondarys with this porting is too much for it. I can’t lay into the throttle and open them up before at least 4.8k without choking the motor. So all in all just way too much air for it. Taking the secondarys back to vacuum should help this and I will do this in next few days.

I will do the FC DFI system and see if the motor can handle the air then with manual secondarys. With the stock ignition and porting manual secondarys seems to be a down fall.

Ok I went back to VAC controled secondarys, so much smoother! So my input now is the car runs freaking smooth and awsome now.

go back to vaccum secondarys, that kick in the butt you get when your manual secs open is actually a delay and you loose time. plus it wont drive as good, i tried it both ways. i have a holley and just re jetted it and put in a new sec spring and i love it now with vaccum secs

IceBlue-
what did you do with all the open lines off the carb spacer/insulator that used to go to the rats nest? And those off the air cleaner? I have an SA and an RB exhaust waiting to go on but can't get much detail on how to sort out the SA rats nest. FB nest details abound, but no info on the SA. Can you give me some details of what you did and where you ran/deleted vac lines?

Hey Stu this should do the trick.

If I could only get my car to turn over now with out smoking wiring harnesses.

Good luck,it is pretty straight forward.

There is a write-up here in the FAQ. However I found it very confusing. I referred to the FSM. I can go take pics for you if you would like.

I did the writeup in the FAQ. What did you find confusing? If it needs revising I'll definately change it to be more clear.

The PCV hook up like what holes, the altitude compensator, Throttle opener, Idle compensator.

On these items the explanation was veg and the pics were misleading when referring to these items. Took me some time to get it sorted out. Possibly because I broke my altitude compensator and didn’t know what it was at the time. hehe. Plus I rebuilt my carb during that time and my ignition was going in and out. it was a PITA to tune like that.

ICEBLUE-
Thanks!, that really helps show the carb connections. Any chance a slightly W-I-D-E-R shot to show vac lines going to oil filler, dizzy , etc.?
