mock up Fiero fan, shorty radiator. and oil cooler

I had an hour today before I had to goto work so started the mock up of the cooling system and where I would be placing my intercooler. Lets just say I have a game plan on mounting all the goodies. The fiero fan fits quite nicely. had to use a 1 1/2 in hole saw to make a notch for the lower rad hose. Ill be fabbing some mounts for the oil cooler.

Thats how I did my FBs and RX-3s. Controlled by a relay and toggle switch.

Nice work. It must be a pretty powerful fan because those Fiero's are known to get pretty hot What oil cooler is that? I envy the rear-facing inlet/outlet. I used 90 degree fittings on my FC cooler and the return barely clears the frame.

There's an adjustable thermo sensor kit available at most auto parts stores. I used it to control the Taurus fan on my TII. It was pretty handy. After some adjusting it would kick on automatically when the car had been sitting in traffic for awhile. It hardly had to run at all in the winter.

The oil cooler is from a 81-83 RX7, I believe. I got a good deal because it had a hairline crack. I got it cleaned it up, tig welded the crack and welded on 10-an bungs because they are cheaper than adapter fittings. Ill need 45 degree fittings to clear the rack & pinion steering.

Thanks for the comments, Ill see if I can get it mounted tonight after work.

I made the mounts to attach the oil cooler to the radiator. Still have to make the brackets to mount the fan.

out of curiosity, what year fiero is that fan from and i'm assuming you went from tall rad to short, did you use the same hoses or change up for the shorty (assuming the later). I ask cause I'm about to do the same thing.

I think it's the 80's. can't really remember I have done it before and was looking more at the fan than I was the year of the car when I bought it. I'm going to try reusing the hoses.

Looks good! I'm interested in seeing how you mock up the intercooler as well and the size you went with. I think I will finally have the funds to begin mine this spring and I am brainstorming.
