Missing dashpot on carb

ummmm..... yeah it just was not there!!!! I was following the workshop manuals steps on taking the carb apart and convinced myself it was part of the 84 nikki ( I have a 82) . Kinda pissed now since I read that this part stops backfiring. Is this true? and will it have an effect on my nikki's functions? Thought the carb rebuild went well till I started reading. I think the last owner did some modding cuz the float levels were out by almost 1mm. Any advise on this would be apprecated (RX7carl, Sterling) lol

I already rebuilt my carb. lol running around in a panic, trying to find that one air bleed that goes in the airhorn while it was already in the airhorn was quite fun! cant say I want to remove the rats net though
