Mikuni carb setup

I just got a 82 Mazda RX-7 it has a carb that says mikuni on it and a intake from Racing beat-it has a spacer plate between the RB intake and block. It has an exhaust from racing beat. It has two accel super coils. The engine is a 13B. Is this a good setup? How do I know what size the carb is? What other things should I look for to see wat else may be modified. I am a rookie and need help. Thanks in advance.

If it is the Mikuni PHH series, it'll have the size inked or stamped on the outside of one of the barrels in tiny print with xxPHH or PHHxx being the size. I have twin 40's going on my car sometime over this winter...finally! Pics of it are at my gallery site and at my cardomain site. Sounds like you purchased a nice setup! Should be putting down some good numbers.

i wouldn't think that the motor is ported. it would need a 50 dco to hold that down. mikuni is pretty much limited to a stockport 13b.

My PHH44 has good throttle response and power in my rally ported 13B, but if I rev it real hard more than once, it will bog the second time ( immediately after the first fuel dump ) unless I give it a few seconds.

Small price to pay.

Still planning to go the Holley 650 and Camden Supercharger route in the Spring.

Yeh, this bad boy is quick! I got it at the auction for $250 and I didnt even open the hood. I guess it would have made no difference since I do not know what I am looking at After going to the jy, I noticed my engine did not look like any of the cars out there. This is my first rotary motor and when you guys say ported I am used to seeing massve big ports and everthing looks so small from what I have been looking at on the Racing Beat site. Are they the best guys to talk to in the Southern California area? Also my intake does loop over the block and the carb does not have anything painted on the outside to see how big this carb is. Where else can I look?

You can pull the carb and measure the outlet side (side that connects to intake) with some calipers. My 40's almost measure 45mm on the inlet side (filter side) but they taper down to the outlet side. The inked print is really small. It took me a bit to find it on mine. If I get a chance tonight I'll take a pic of the area you should look at.
