SE that is neat. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering up here in Wahington. I am in my 4th year. Too bad that I will be in school for 5 yrs though(taking 16-17 credits a semester was not enough to finish in 4). Where did you get your BS and where.

hi i ordered the megasquirt about a couple months ago, it should be here any day now, and was wondering where i can pick op one of the nifty 12a setups, i already have that same manifold with my mikuni, i want to use that, and get what looks to be an adaptor for a fuel injected webber manifold, im on a tight budget are those things cheap, im guessing it would be called a throttle body injection carb replacement or something allong those lines...
if anyone knows more please tell!!
looks cool

Thottle bodies typically aren't a cheap item. You could adapt a set of snowmobile throttle bodies from ebay as they are much cheaper. I actually managed to get a set of 46mm ones for pretty cheap from Manitoba back when I was going to do EFI on my 12A. You would have to make a small manifold to go from your existing ones to the throttle bodies though.

It is still "multiport" even though the injectors are on the TB. Throttle body injection is when the injectors are above the butterflies. Lots of GM trucks use it, dunno much about it, though.
I tried to sell my setup recently, but nobody bought it. There was another setup I wanted to switch to, but it would`ve cost more than I have right now, so I decided to stick with what I got keep tryin to make it work, and try to sell it later on.
There is no `setup` for a 12a, you have to get everything yourself and build an entire system from parts, as opposed to an SE where you can use most of the stock components. If you`re on a budget, I recommend buying a rebuilt carburetor. There`s no way coverting a 12a is gunna happen under $700 unless you`re real lucky in finding used parts and are good at fabricating things.
In your case, autopaul, you MAY be abke to get by with $5-600 since you`ve got a manifold to work with. Not sure if it matches a standard weber bolt pattern, if it does maybe you`re in luck.

Fire85GSLSE,

I've been running MS on my SA in a configuration very similar to yours. If you've already got the S4 intake system, then revert back to the stock FC arrangement with 2 primary and 2 secondary injectors. You can use your big 710's as secondaries if you like, and some stock FC units for primaries. That'll give better fuel distribution than if you fire all the fuel into the center iron, and run the outer irons dry.

If you are looking for a really clean installation, find a scrap GSL-SE ECU, and graft the MS board inside. That way you'll have a stock-looking install, which could be made plug-n-play compatible with the stock ECU. Of course that kills the 4-injector idea I mentioned above...

In any case, converting an -se to fuel-only MS control is a pretty straight-forward task. The variety and complexity of ignition solutions can be ignored if you are happy running with
dizzy for spark. RG did a nice job of summing up the project in his post. You are one big step ahead of the 12a-powered guys, as your car is already efi'd. Overcoming that hurdle IMO is even more work than adapting MS itself. Just be sure to buy the kit, not a preassembled unit. The building process will make you intimately familiar with the hardware, and give you the confidence to maintain and modify your unit to suit your needs for years to come.

Roger.

Sounds good. I went to the website and did not really see what I needed to buy.
I will run the 4 injectors and swap them. I picked up a set of stock s4's out of a vert in the bone yard. I will send them to RC for a rebuild.
Still trying to understand all of this stuff as it is new to me.
Once I get the parts ordered putting it together should be fun.
I think I got a friend interested in MS since were gonna put a TII motor into a repu. Look out, that thing is gonna fly if it hooks up!

As long as your car is naturally aspirated, you're not going to blow it up. Play with your maps until it runs decently smooth. Then tweak it from there.

I think he was asking for a base line to start with. That would make his job a little easier.

Come on there is someone out there with a close setup that can give him a base line to start with.

I just put my MS back in my SE today. I was going to originally install over a year ago, but I didn't have much of a map to go by and I had other things I needed to do. Back then, I installed the wiring (used stock wiring and added a connector so that I can easily swap between stock and MS ECU). I could get it running then, but wouldn't idle and ran pretty poorly. Well, I descided to give it another go. Jayroc sent me his base map. I adjusted the required fuel some and it fired right up. I put a 47k resistor on the tach line to help deal with noise. I am currently running the stock SE engine.

Runs good so far. I was able to drive with no problems. I get some popping from the exhaust on decel and probably need to tune the upper range of the map, but so far works well. I would be happy to share my setup or answer any questions you may have. I will continue to drive it when I have time and get it better tuned. The MS is a great setup.
