My Sterling-modded Nikki is still on the bench so I can't give a direct testimonial (it has the wired secondaries) but I had it done understanding that it made the power response noticably better when you kick in the secondaries, though the fun cost more in gas useage
Don't know if the poorer mileage is a part of the mod or people just get such a kick out of it they are punching it all the time...
may want to email P&JRacing.com and ask Carl directly what the pros and cons are...

The biggest drawback to doing the mechanical secondary mod, is the flat spot it causes if you mash the pedal too deep too quickly. You can mash it as quickly as you like, up to about 3/4 throttle. After that, you have to open it slower. Takes some getting used to, as you also need to learn to not mash it until the RPM's are over ~3500 or so.
I did the mod, didn't really like the way it drove, so I undone it.

Just pull the spring out of the secondary vaccuum diaphram, they'll open fast but without the bog.
