The Mazda will be back soon

IT"S GETTING REBUILT! costing me a pretty penny but it's getting done right ya know. It's gonna be sweet. I'm gonna love it. But I have to remember never take it over 4K RPMS I'm so happy. What took out the engine was that it was built unbalanced and ****. So thats whatdid it. Anyways just wanted you guys to know. Take it easy.

yea it's gonna be hard to not go over that 4K mark. I'm currently driving the dad's 200sx with the sr20 in it. *evil grin* it's nice. I just lowered it and am throwing an intake and full header to muffler exhaust on it before handing it back to him. And I have trouble not driving it hard. It's got a narly exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold hence the header and it's loud now. But the Mazda will be nice to sit in and drive once I get her back. I'm gonna take the sunroof off and cruise to Clearwater beach every night. That was something I did want to ask. Is it ok during the break in period to drive at high speeds say 70-80........possible 95-100? Just cruising that is. Thanks a lot guys.

I know with piston motors most ring manufacturers recommend not doing any sustained RPM driving like on the highway. I just rebuilt the engine in my Toyota (22R) and I remember reading that in the instructions. I dunno if it would apply to the seals in our cars or not, but I just thought I would toss that out there. Then again, they tell you to full throttle accelerate from 35 to 55 or something like that 10 times to seat the rings without kickdown on an auto, or bogging with a stick. That exceeded the RPMs they said to keep it under during the break in though, so I dunno, haha. I assumed you seated them, then just keep it gentle after that, which is what I did, and I dont seem to have any problems. Anyway, once again, thats all for a piston engine, and the point was, if it were me, I wouldnt run it at sustained RPMs up there like that until after the first oil change at least, which should be after a few hundred miles.
