TX May be stupid but, Has anyone shoehorned a Renesis motor into an FB yet?

Just curious, as chance would have it I have a friend of mine with a newly rolled over Rx8 his insurance paid off and he bought back. He would be kind enough to trade me some stuff for his motor. SOOO, question is... Has this been done? If not i may endeavor to attempt it later next year.

Food for thought.

By the way, my new FB is almost back to life! Missing a few things here and there. SO I will take some more pictures this week! I will add to my home at last thread.

Thanks,

It has been done. Search noob. Has it been done by anyone on this forum? I actually don't know the answer to that. Maybe I need to search.

You have a wonderful oppurtunity to get the engine and everything else off the car that you will need to complete the conversion. You'll need the ECU and dash plus all wires for the CAN to work. You'll even need the PCM fuel pump.

I started a thread on this recently. Good info here:

I'm looking into it with that haltech unit this summer.

The Sprint RE is retailing for $866.25. We haven't gotten the chance to install one on a rotary yet (software was just released today) but have had great experience with them Sprint 500 on piston engines. As with the Sport ECUs, we'll be offering the Sprint RE with built-to-spec terminated looms for easy installation.

Look into an old Star Mazda engine, those cars have about as much peripheral systems as an FB.

Wow that seems like a really good deal! Are you planning to run an RX8 on it?

A friend of mine works for a Star Mazda team, and when I started my project he suggested it. He didn't detail how, but he was confident he could find me an engine for around $4K if I was interested. Expensive, yes, but a good deal for what you're getting with the dry sump, etc.
