Mass air flow question

I was reading somewhere and can not find the post now.

It was about using a 2nd gen mass air flow sensor in a GSL-SE.
Did this make a HP difference? Anyone know the person who did this conversion so I can talk to them?

Max's site has good info on it, but as his site mentions briefly it's a pain to tune and is kind of a hack job. If you want to remove the AFM an aftermarket ECU is the way to go. I think there might be slots left in the Megasquirt group buy, for $100 shipped you get the ECU PCB and all the componants, and I believe BadAssRX-7 has offered for an extra $30 to put it together for you. This is an incredably good deal, since the unit is about equiv to the SDS-EFI fuel only ECU (www.sdsefi.com). I'll have to get back to you (or maybe max has the mailing list) with the mailing list address (or you could e-mail the guys running the group buy, his url is http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html which is also a good site to look at the info for the ECU). Last I checked they're still taking orders, and they plan on shipping the units sometime after the holidays. This is a bit advanced, but it's the best way to "delete" the AFM, as it uses a MAP sensor instead.

FWIW,

sign up for the megasquirt mailing list here if you do so desire, it's pretty low volume:

check the yahoo group link for info on joining the mailing list, then tell them you want in. They'll prolly tell you just to send in a check with yer info.

the old page was www.bgsoflex.com/register.html and has most of the info you'll need, tho I'm sure they'll post that to the list when you ask..

Sooner or later (i'm hoping sooner personally cuz I've already paid for mine) they are going to close the group buy, because they need to order parts (once they get all the money they've got floating out there in the postal system, ect.) and start flashing microcontrollers. So if anyone wants one, for $100 shipped this is a STEAL. It's a full featured FUEL ECU (does not do spark) with 2 batch fired injector drivers, ect. Go check out the site for the full line up, but it's a neat little system. It certainly opens alot of doors for us GSL-SE owners. I really want to get rid of that damn AFM, and maybe put a nice Webber 48DCOE-like throttle boddy on there to further open up the intake

Word from racing beat is they will have a new Manifold available in January for our GSLSE's...sound like now we need a group buy on those and then a sweet throttle body setup . Man by the time I get all this going I will have to rebuild my 150000 mile motor

Where in NY are you? I lived upstate in New Palty from 75 to 85.
