Reading :to whom this may concern, we the people of hammond bay ..... are sick and tired of hearing your car start up in the morning , at nite and just ripping around, either put a muffler on it or the police will be conctacted soon... im like WTF i drive slower than all the minivan ***** in my "neighborhood" i have a muffler(straight through) hhehehe but **** they also threatend to shove stuff up my exhaust system , i meen **** are the poeple that live here so ******* bored they have to pick on some kid who they think is "bad" , for **** sakes i always give people in my neighborhood right of ways... **** like that, now i know why they all either give me a rude face or just ignore me... but **** what the **** did i do other than having a slightly loud exhaust... its a joke.

I think im gonna go for a drive and ask people face to face, because 1 paper is a joke...

well im gonna go smoke a fatty.... get my new RPM tach hooked up then go pick up Air Filter...

Watch your car day and night: take a picture or video tape them trying to do stuff to your car and bust them for vandalism.

unfortunately this is the type of thing we, as Rx-7 owners, have to deal with. DEFINITELY watch your car because there are some pretty petty and vindictive people out there.

i find it so amusing that they say all of this stuff about us, but then they're kids go out and put cherry bombs on their Civics and Integras ... but they call the Rx-7 noise?

obviously, i don't know what your car sounds like, but my neighbors tried that crap with my last Rx-7 a few years ago and i can tell you that it was not loud (header, presilencer, Dynomax main) - the only time it may have been an issue was in the winter on choke ... but i had this lady tell me to fix my muffler or park my car on the next block.

i was like ... whatever ... my muffler is not broken and when you get the people to stop cutting your "yuppie" lawn at 8 in the morning, then i'll think about parking around the block ....

 

So the people are complaining about you. Tone it down,
trust me on this one, the last thing you want , is for the cops to show up on you door. Because when they are called they have to take action, whatever !to keep the peace. Make sure nothing, NOTHING, is in the car, ( fatty's) you get me ,,?? no front plate, no muffler(s) any reason for them to have ' probale cause ' to pull you over. And if they find something(fatty)thats it, your done.
At least they wrote you a note, there way of saying ' you've been warned ' So don't push it, the people always win over a kid with his car. You can say ' oh **** you '' i'll do what i want ' If you think that, then you'll find out the hard way. So be carefull. IMO

 

Fennix, Mark has the right idea. I think people notice our cars because they sound different, not because they are loud. And if you're different here in the good ole US of A, watch out, Homeland Security will get you!

yeah i know what you mean man i got told to leave my neighborhood one day when i did an ATF treatment to my car. I was also told my car is too loud as well (stock exhaust) yet the ******* the next street over starts up his 69 camaro with open headers every now and then, WTF!

 

no **** man.. sometimes im at work till 2 in the morning, and waking up to my neighbor cutting his ******* grass is the worst... but atleast they dont complain about my car.. and its pretty damn loud. its kinda weird they havent said anything to me because i let me car go through a 10-15 min warm up every morning during school, and thats at 6:45 in the morning.

 

was this after the night we were all in there with 4 of our cars? i could bet that was horribly loud!! and if they think thats loud i think ill have to take a boot though there soon

 

Tone it down. Excess exhaust noise gets you attention alright: the wrong kind. Save it for the track.

Unless you are in a deed restricted community with its own set of rules, or are loud enough to be violating local noise ordinances, you need to call the cops, show them the letter, and let them know that you are feeling harrassed.

Trust me on this one - if you were in violation of local laws, you would've been ticketed for it by now. If you were in a deed restricted community and in violation of the covenant - you'd most certainly know, and rather than some anonymous note, you'd receive something on official stationery...

So yes, call the cops - be the first one to do so, and establish your case. Then video the hell out of your car while you aren't there watching it - it will be invaluable should they do something to your car.

 

pratch has a great point ... make the first official move if your car is NOT extraordinarily loud. you've got to play the game their way and they DID threaten you/your car!

as long as you're sure it will pass whatever noise restrictions BC has, and you haven't gotten any recent moving violations (to make a case for you being a "speeder/racer"), then file a police report. it will make you look better if something does happen ...

BTW: if the cops want to take the letter, make sure you make copies of it for yourself.

 

Meh, from what I know Nanaimo has no real noise restrictions other than the standard civic stuff.

What Mr. Perez neglected to mention is that only applies to minorities who own loud import cars....or even musclecars....I once got pulled over on Cooper St for a loud exhaust on my '68 Firebird, an example of a GM F-body for the uneducated. I kept the car running as he wrote the ticket to further irritate the red-neck when a Chevelle rumbles down the street that could be heard over my exhaust note. It's some guy with a blond and as they rumble by, I ask, "Why don't you get them next?"

"Don't worry about them".....they drove on by inmolested....three guesses what race the guy was (since I've had plenty of blond girlfriends myself...)

 

Haha nice. Yeah I hate that. I work for a lawn care business, and I have to get up at 5:30 every morning to mow places early. I don't get it: Why the hell do you want someone mowing your lawn that early in the morning?


Like they all said, watch your car. Even if you don't have a camra or camcorder...borrow one. You could win some major $$ if they do any damage to your car.
