Major Bogging after3k, PLEASE HELP!!

Hey guys what’s going on? I am new to this. I have an 83 7 gsl and holy crap I don’t know where to start.

i had the car in hibernation for about two year because i wanted to preserve it for when i had the money to fix it up, then i finally decided to make it my everyday driving car.
I took it for inspection and it failed emissions miserably because I hadn’t changed the oil.
I got that done and took it for re-inspection and it failed HC by 17 points (something really small), with that I decided to do some maintenance work. During this time the car drove perfect.
I used carb cleaner to clean the carb out in hopes that it would helps the car out and run a little cleaner. The next day the car wouldn’t start at all, the problem was that the spark plugs were drenched in sludge so I got brand new plugs, a few week later I did the following things -- two new catalytic converters, monza exhaust system, new air filter, new fuel filters, sea foam in the tank and vacuum like, and fuel system cleaner.
The real problem is that after I used the carb cleaner the car bogs down like crazy, it will not go past 3k rpm during cruising speeds, even with the peddle to the floor, it sounds like its not getting fuel and the engine is getting really stressed out. Once I press the clutch and bring the rpms down to 2k, floor it and let go of the clutch, the car takes off the way it should and If I keep that up I can go to any speed but as soon as I ease up on the accelerator even a little bit, the engine has no power at all like its not getting any fuel, its very frustrating when I cant go past 60mph anywhere without feeling like the engine is going to blow up.
I checked the carb and tested it during acceleration, it seems that the primary fuel ports are dishing out plenty of fuel and the secondary’s are dry as an 80 year old virgin. I want to find a solution around the problem before I decide to take a major task of rebuilding the carb only to find out that, that might not be the problem. The bogging down got even worst after I put the new cats and exhaust system in, so then I changed the fuel filter because the old one was horrible (so much restriction in it).
I don’t understand what’s going on because the car will go on hard acceleration but not cruising speeds.
Please HELP!!!! I don’t want to stress out my 7 any longer.

i would fully rebuild the carb. it sounds as if you loosened up some crud in the carb and it has partially clogged your jets. clean the fuel bowles, jets, air bleeds, replace the accelerator pump, needles, and seats, all applicable gaskets and crush washers. inspect the floats and measure their level.

you may also want to inspect the fuel filter again, as you may have loosened up some crud in the tank causing a partial obstruction.

Probably a clogged jet. Carb rebuild would be your best bet, as stated above. Good luck...

I would drop the tank also to make sure there is no trash inside and put fresh gas and a new filter for sure.If you have an air compressor ,blow the lines while you're at it. WL

i'd go with the fuel filter first, then if that don't help clean the carburator jets.

AP can be changed on the car, but it's tricky and costs about 1/2 the price of a full carb kit which will include it. The secondaries are vacuum operated. If they aren't opening at all, it may be a vacuum problem.

Since the car has sat that long and you're having trouble with passing emissions, a full carb rebuild, tank and fuel line cleaning are in order. Also make sure the dizzy cap/rotor are in good shape along with plugs/plug wires.

In regards to your pulley set up, since you replaced the cats, there's a good chance you can pass emissions without the air pump, but depending on the cats, they may not last or pass the next time.

I read in one of the threads that you are not suppose to see the secondaries open when you are manually checking it, if so.....what is the procedure to see if they are in working order?

thank you, i m gonna go buy the kit and get to work.

you are right about the cat's they are deff not gonna last, it gets crazy hot everytime i drive it and the bottom half of the rear section of the cat is already black. there was a snow storm recently in ny, with less than 3-5 mins of the engine warming up, there was a melted puddle of ice/snow under the cat.
