Ok, I have some information about Magnaflow mufflers that I thought was interesting.

I went to a Magnaflow dealer, and had him call the guys at the company. My intension was to see if their warranty covered damage cause by rotary engines. The rep said that the packing material could withstand up to 2,000 degrees. It's a stainless steel mesh core, with a high temperature fiber packing. This is what scared me, but aparently it's not fiberglass.

The 2,000 degrees thing sounds like a bit of an overstatement but if someone can burn one up, you get a free replacement. Anyway, there you go.

P.S.

This only applies to the stainless steel mufflers by Magnaflow for certain. I don't know about the other designs.

MY SUPERTRAPP has high temp packing and it still muffles like it was new. Peak 1750*F measured 22" from header flange.

2 people from this forum runs dual magnapacks right off the dual header all the way back to a magnaflow exhuast.. so technically, they're running 3 mufflers; metallic sound almost gone

So if what PVC is saying is right, then there is no reason that this warranty wouldn't apply to their magnapacks, right? I'm just considering running 2 magnapacks if i can get them cheap and one of their universal ss mufflers, what diameter should i go with with a stock engine, no streetport?

Yeah, I'm getting a magnapack now that I know this.
I'll have a single outlet header, a pre-silencer, a magnapack, and a SS muffler. This should be quiet enough.
Make sure you get the stainless steel Magnapack. The mild steel ones might use the same packing, but I don't know for sure. All the stainless mufflers are covered under the warranty. Actually, I'm sure all the mufflers are.
