Lsd gsl?

hey, my car is an 85 rx with power windows, sunroof, cruise, a/c, front and rear disk brakes. Im curious to know how to figure out what model the car was originally, whats the difference between a gsl and gsl-se? If one of them had the 13b, was that the only difference? And the rearend, are all rearends with disc brakes lsd's?????

Pretty much it was just the 13b. The GSL-SE was heavier, had a stiffer chassis and suspension, and was fuel injected rather than carburated.

The only thing stiffer suspension wise were the shocks/struts, to counteract the grippier tires. Springs and sway bars were the same. Bodyshell was the same.

GSL's have rear disks, but solid, not vented like on the SE's. Also, the GSL's have an LSD, which came standard on this model and the GSL-SE's.

The SE weighs about 300 lbs more than a standard GSL; this is due to the slightly heavier EFI system components (AFM, intake plenum, DEI, etc), and also due to the car having power everything when it was all optional on other models. HTH,

Well, P/S was only optional on the -SE, but this is a good point.

The cars' weights were given based on shipping weight. 12A cars were shipped "strippo" and any options were installed either at the port of entry or at teh dealership. Saved a lot of labor, since there was a long lead time between cars being produced and cars actually making it to dealerships. GSL-SEs, of course, came with everything, with the only options being power steering, and leather interior. With all that standard equipment, of course their rated weight is porkier.

In actuality the weight difference between *similarly equipped* cars (S3 GSL vs. GSL-SE) is only about 100lb, much of which is rotating weight (evil, eeee-vil).
