LSD Clutch Pack Question - Far into the weeds

Here's where things stand.

Very little wear on the clutches, especially the se.

Now for my questions:
1. The spider core halves have these 4 dots on each side, 4 per side in a pattern around the circumference. They only line up with the other side in a specific orientation/clocking. I'm assuming that I line these back up when the stack goes back together. One side fell off before I had a chance to see how it was before.

Question 2:
The inside/driven clutches have a spiral pattern. I haven't read anything about how they are supposed to be oriented. They came out of the stack as shown. Left side is the driver's and right is the passengers side. It looks like the driver's would engage and spiral would induce more force to the od and in the passenger side the spiral would cause the force to be more directed to the id.
Anyone come across the Mazda install instructions or anything else that explains the reasoning of these?

I'm reasonably confident both of these have not been opened before. All koyo bearings, minimal marks on the pinion flange nut, etc.

I'm going to clean them up and measure everything a third time with a third micrometer to confirm my numbers from the first two passes. Planning out cleaning the cases next.

Additional question: the 4 JIS countersink screws holding the LSD case together; are those only there to hold things together with a light pre load (just for positioning) until the ring gear bolts get torqued and those are what provides the cone spring compression and stack pre load?

Gear Ratios

One other thing I noticed, if this parts fiche is accurate, does this mean that gsl-se's made after December of 84 only had 3.9 rear diff ratios?

Must be a misprint, GSL-SE had 4.08 and 4.09 final drive. The first three months of '84 production, Mazda was using fine tooth gears in the rearends. That is the difference, fine vs coarse.

The spiral has nothing to do with forcing, it's just for oil clearance. Spiral on one side and radial lines on the other ensures that the pil grooves always intersect at a high angle to each other, so the edges never risk clashing each other. Don't need to overanalyze that.
