also, the strength of all 84-85 axles are the same , regaurdless of se or not. as the axle shafts are all the same size. in 83 on back they were smaller. THe SE does have the larger vented brakes and the 4.0X gearing as opposed to the smaller non vented brakes and 3.9X gearing.
Friendly or not, your rebuttal is dead wrong. The '81 to '85 GSL model RX-7 had a clutch pack Limited Slip differential. Take a look at the parts fiche, you can buy the clutch packs for a 1st Gen differential. A TorSen doesn't use clutch packs! The TorSen or Torque-Sensing differential was NOT available on any RX-7 until the 3rd Gen. The 2nd Gen cars came with clutch packs until sometime near the middle of the run, when they switched to the viscous type.

Hope that straightens things out.

You are correct sir, and My fingers did not want to type what I was tring to think. I was under the misunderstanding that there was torsen, which I knew was a 3rd gen standard, but I thought that the visious / clutch type were one of the same. what is the difference between a clutch and vusious?

To everyone on the forum, sorry about the spastic fingers
