Lsd?
GSL from 81-82 will be a "direct" bolt in. I think in 83 they changed the flanges, so you'd have to get the propeller shaft with the rear end, which is no big deal.
And by direct, you may need to switch the brake lines and the e-brake cable.

I just switched the flange on my lsd when I went from a 82' to a 83' lsd, no big deal with a impact wrench.
If you switch out the whole rear end you will need the rear disk ebrake cable assembly...the whole thing. Hard brake lines are on the axle housing and the flex line going to the axle is the same for all cars...except 79-80' SA has different thread pitch on the hard lines.

SA=no LSD. 81-83, small pinion flange lsd is a direct bolt in for the pumpkin. If you get a large flange one, (later 83), you can either change the pinion flange or driveshaft, option 2 is easier. If you want disc brakes, then you will need to deal with the brake line thread pitch change on the FB's, and the the different handbrake cables. New cables will run a little over 100 bucks new.
Funny story. Both my 2nd and 1st gens have power steering, closer lock to lock ratio than the manuals. My non-lsd 2nd can make a u-turn on my steet when I change parking from one side to the other easily. The lsd 1st gen does not have as tight a turning radius, so i have to make a 3-point turn. NOT. I switched the widebody from side to side the other day, with a friend of mine watching. He had this big grin on his face when I pulled to the curb to park. My turning radius was 1/2 of the 2nd gen, just spun the tires and swung the rear around. PJ is 21 and younger than my sons. I pulled up laughing going 'What, it's fun.'.

Just a question but did the LS SA come with LSD because I was looking at one at a wrecker a couple of months ago and I spun the wheels and they turned the same direction, So was this an option on the LS SA or something someone added?
