LOL, are you sure that's not a zerk fitting (for a grease gun)? BTW, let me know how this install goes for you, I need to do this myself soon. Good luck.

You're looking at a grease fitting - you'll have to fill the ball joint with grease after you install it - otherwise it will wear out very quickly.

If your joints don't have clips to hold them into the arm, get someone to tack weld it for you.

RX-7 ball joints are press fit into the control arms. There should be no clips or tack welds needed to keep them in. If you got ball joints that came with a clip to hold it in, its either the wrong ball joint or its a VERY crappy design. The ones I got were press fit. Press the old ones out, press the new ones in.

When mine go, I'm just buying adjustable lower control arms. They come with new ball joints.

The problem is the control arm wears out so when you press the new ball joint in it can be loose and may detach itself. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with tack welding it.

I'm not a big fan of the ball joints (or tie rods) that have the grease fitting. They are metal to metal and have more friction and wear out faster than the sealed ones which have a nylon bushing.

Thanks for the back up. The clip and/or tack weld is there for cheap insurance not pood design.

I had to press mine out, and press the new ones in. Knowing the horor stories I'm happy the clip is there.

You know, there is a reason that Mazda says to replace the arm.

When you take it in, it helps if you make sure that they understand that the arms are VERY delicate (it can be done though).
