low oil pressure...

i've noticed that my car at most gets 30psi of oil pressure. that's giving it any throttle. at idle, i get maybe 5psi. think it's my gauge? i have replaced the o-rings.

Change the oil.

Other than that, don't worry about it, unless you're really winging the engine on up there. (like 8000+)

Check it with a mechanical gauge. I ended up having a bad wire from the pressure sensor. Put on a real gauge and it checked out OK. BTW, the oil pressure fitting is a 1/8" BSP thread so you will need a adapter.

Then after you confirm the oil pressure really is low, start looking at other things.

erm..my oil pressure was fine lol. my stock gauge was shot so i hooked up an $8 wal-mart gauge to the stock sender port. worked like a charm.

as for the oil pressure...

check the oil pan. if it's dented in...it could be impeding the oil pickup. could also be some junk clogging up the screen over the pickup...

if anything, just try a fresh change of oil.

my oil pressure is always fairly low at idle. but if i rev it up for just a split second mine will run right up to 40 or 60. is it supposed to be low at idle?

i think normal idle pressure should be around 30psi or so.

Mine's in storage right now till the end of april, but i was having issues with my oil pressure gauge also, as my engine would warm up my oil pressure would go down and i think it got below 15 psi once, but it jumps up when i rev it, it had me worried though.

I hope i'm not up for a rude awakening when it comes out of storage.

My oil pressure was 30 lbs cold and 10lbs warm on my stock gauge so i got a mechanical gauge and now my oil pressure is 75lbs cold and 50lbs warm all the adapters came with the gauge.

i think the stock gauge get's pretty crappy as time goes on.

the sender unit can get clogged..which i imagine it often does. so if you every think someone is up, the gauge is probably wrong. just go to wal-mart and buy the $8 oil pressure gauge for peace at mind.
