low compression

Hey,
I am getting low compression on my engine for some reason. What is that transmission fluid trick that fixes the apex seals?

I am not sure, I didn't test it myself. I just know you can restore engine compression by putting transmission fluid "somewhere" I don't know, but I have a 85 rx7 12a and I love it, I don't want to have to replace the engine when it is still able to drive around.

Well, if the compression is TOO low, it's not even worth doing the MMO trick.

The "MMO" or "ATF" trick is for helping engines with low compression due to the apex seals sticking from carbon buildup.
A good write-up about this can be found in the FAQ located at the top of this section, under the name "1st gen FAQ".
Much easier to have you look for that, rather than spend a long time re-typing the directions.

Once you get her running with the MMO (instead of ATF) you might want to try the following, it did wonders for my engine (I think I had a stuck apex seal)...

When you are down to about 1/8 of a tank of gas, dump in a full can of SeaFoam. Don't add more gas right a way, drive her hard for a while first. This will be a very strong concentration and helps free things up. When I did this, after driving it for a few miles I suddenly got a HUGE surge of power and it has stayed with me ever since. Might be worth a shot...

This stuff is usually available at most auto parts stores. I don't know if it would be available in guatemala, though. ATF (auto tranny fluid) is an acceptable substitute if MMO cannot be obtained.
MMO is a light oil, with exceptional cleaning and lubricating qualities. Almost looks and smells like ATF and carb cleaner mixed together. Generally in a red and black can/bottle.

Actually, you could probably use any type of compatible oil for this purpose, even motor oil. Just be sure that you don't use more than is needed.

Also, you will probably foul your plugs when doing this, so pick up an extra set...

your auto parts store SHOULD be able to order it otherwise goto: http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUp.htm and click on contact or email : customerservice@seafoamsales.com directly. Good luck (I just went ahead and bought a new engine though I still use sea foam alot)

For MMO = http://www.turtlewax.com/ you can place an order there. also customer service email is: : customerservices@turtlewax.ltd.uk
