Loud weird buzzing/ vibration.

I have a weird one. I hooked up my new stereo and now if I turn the key on there is a loud vibration under the header panel. The only thing I can think of is that the Wiper motor went berzerk. It is super loud and annoying, any help?

Ok Captain Obvious here, you are going to have to tear into the wiring. Get the diagrams from the service manual and start tracing everything out. Hopefully it is something simple.

Sounds like the oscillator.

Locate a small black plastic box bolted to the front engine wall in front of the battery, that's the oscillator (it usually will say oscillator on it).

Unplug it, if the loud buzzing noise goes away you've found the problem.

It is definitely the wiper motor making the noise. It goes constantly when the ign switch is on. Even though the wipers are off. The dome lights also stopped working, I think that is related. It stops only if I unplug the wiper switch or take the wiper fuse out.

I don't think the wiper motor has a warning buzzer and I don't see how the wiper motor could make that noise when the wipers aren't operating.

Unless there is a disconnect between your wiper motor and the switch. Check on the wiper motor links, maybe they bit the dust.

I wouldn't worry about the dome light for now.

Can you post us a video with sound of the whole situation?

Hey Justin,

Not wanting to hijack your thread, but I have posted in your for sale thread and sent you 2 PMs about an item you have for sale. I would really appreciate an answer.

Thank you,
betes
