loud buzzing sound

When i was out driving around i started to hear a loud buzzing sound coming from the driver side dash. It sounded like it was coming from down by the fuse block area. my first thought was a fuse arcing and reached down to find the 20 amp air conditioning fuse was quite warm. (not sure if thats because it was on full at the time) I pulled the fuse and the sound didnt stop, however it does appear to be intermittent as it did stop and start a few times (mostly when turning) as i raced back home. any suggestions? my first thoughts are electrical arcing of a type but unscrewed the fuse block and saw no obvious evidence of such. Any suggestions are appreciated.

it isnt, it does it when the car is at an idle, though funny not really a helpful comment, its not exactly funny when your car is undriveable.

My door open chime, has a shitty buzzing sound even when the door isn't quite closed. I'm sure not the same problem. I unplugged a plug that came from the blinker assembly and it stopped.

These cars always blow fuses lol.

Just a thought.

I notice it's been kind of damp out there in Portland the last few days.

It's probably the oscillator. There's a small rectangular black box mounted in the engine compartment just in front of the battery (it may say "oscillator" on it).

Unplug the electrical connector to this box, if the noise goes away, you're done.

DC fuses don't make a buzzing sound when they arc - - that's an AC-specific characteristic.

DC arcs go "Splat!"

after pulling fuses one at a time until the sound stopped i found it was linked to the 15 amp "engine" fuse. So i went through my diagram and found everything that feeds into, "luckly, only 3 things".
Kick Down System
Charging System
Emissions Control System

I have a manual so that strikes out the kick down system, Battery isnt dying/dead so that removes the charging system...which means my Emissions Control System...however i dont know why it would be making that sound (perhaps it has gone faulty?)

LOL I love how 99% of the problems with first gens can be solved simply by "remove the fuse and/or part".

I'm currently working on splitting the harness for just this reason. The amount of wires I'm removing ahead of the firewall is astonishing.

No need to rewire the car or mess with the fuse box.

Just unplug the oscillator. The screeching noise will go away. I promise.
