Loud 85 rx7

My 85 rx7 is just too loud for everyday driving. It has all the emissions crap including the catalytic converter and the stock muffler. The muffler has no holes and looking inside the muffler it appears to be in average condition.
I'm considering replacing the muffler, but was wondering if I should else could be creating all this noise.

Something is wrong. Cause stock Rex's are extremely quiet. I would jack up the car, start it and feel for leaks. Chances are a 20 year old exhaust hasn't been sealed for a long time. If there are no leaks I would replace the muffler with something cheap and restrictive (IE non straight through).

Also original cats can be dangerous to your car. When they clogg over time it creates too much backpreasure and can lower the compression of your engine.

Good luck

Car starts and runs with no problems. I replaced all the seals between the cats, intake and muffler.
