Okay, a friend of mine sometimes talk on this forum. He has a 1984 RX-7 and is about to put a racing beat exaust and swap it manual ( it's automatic right now ). He might also chage his corb for a holley 600 or some ****....

now the point is that a guy on the forum where the projet is posted is telling us it won't kick *** that much ...

so i'm looking for video of a 150-180hp or even 200 hp first gen rx-7 to prove him wrong...

You won't get close to 180 hp without opening up the engine and doing serious porting. For 200 hp, most members resort to forced induction, or bottle fed.

Whoa man. Watch your self. You can 220 hp, with a webber side draft, good racing beat exhaust and a decent street port.

There was an artical on here a while back that was absicly making a first gen perform as well as a thrid gen for 10 grand. In the end the gen one could easly keep up with the gen 3 on the straights, but in the corenres teh gen three smoked it.

Now they did not do a lot of supention work, but that is besides the point.

220hp, will accelerate an fb from 0-60mph in like 5.2 seconds.

150hp, will do you for about as quick as the new GTI 6.9-7.1 seconds.

150hp you can get from a decent carb, and exhaust fairly easly.

Try searching the videp secotion for some FB vids.

First time I've seen the Grassroots article. About all I can say is it does not apply to the original posters question and if I spent 10k, I would be sporting 400 hp at a minimum. I have 6k in the widebody and can easily install a 400 hp TII for the other 4k.

For those that haven't read the article, the engine installed in the article was a 13B 4-port with a sidedraft and a Haltech. The pages dealing on the specifics of the engine build are missing.

i guess it all depends on how you define kick ***...would it be a fun *** car to drive and play with...beating stock hondas and soem moded hondas..if that is your deff of kick *** then yes it will..you will have a high 14sec car maybe low 14s. if you put a big *** gear init then you will drop some time off that and have a quick fun car..i mean your not going to be driving a modded corba killer or anything

cheers PaTricK

He's talking about me when he's talking about his friend.

He never said I was gonna make 180hp but he just wants to see a 180hp 7 doing some kills....

Cuz the other guy on his forum claims a stock talon turbo is all that much better.

Considering the weight to power ratio and the fact that at low hps like that, he might not even have the edge on the start, I mean he will either be beside or behind the 7 :P.

Do it right...

My setup(engine alone) cost more than a single turbo 3rd gen. Building a car is not cheap if you do it right.

If you want cheap port the hell out of it and run NOS.
