looking for seats

hey, im new here, this is actually my first post, im just getting my first rx7 (82) and im looking for some racing seats. Its mostly for the look, but a light weight performance seat would be good too. Anyway, im wondering about actually installing the seats. Do i have to find seats specifically for the rx7, or could i get some and mayb do a little bit of customization on the brackets to make them fit? (the less work the better though ) Any suggestions would be great, mayb some good brands? stuff like that.

thanx alot

Hi, and welcome. You'll find that most common subjects (like this one) have been covered. The search function will usually get you a quicker answer than waiting for someone to help. Also, those subjects that are beaten to death will get responses like "search n00b" cause its been beaten to death. Dont take it personally.

Anyway, onto your question. 2nd gen seats fit with little work (Turbo II are the best). I see people putting in 3rd gen and miata seats too. I just bought a pair of "racing " style seats off ebay. I will post my installation of them when they get here. There is a recent thread on this very subject though right in this section. Look for it. Last post was yesterday, cant be that far back.

Again, welcome to hell........................ errrrrrrrr I mean the forum.

Ya with alittle modification almost any type of seat will fit. I'm putting ractive racing buckets in my 81 now. So do whatever just know that some seats will take alittle more effort to get them in then others. Have fun in the mean time though! Don't be afraid to ask alot of questions, most people know what their talking about and would not hesitate to help a fellow rotor head.

Are 2nd gen seats a direct fit or does it require some modification?

See the wierd thing is that some people say they fit right in and some people say that one of the holes don't line up. My guess is that the people that say the swap fits right in are swapping out the rails too. All in all it should be straight forward swap.
