rx7.com has got this Jabob's Electronics Ignition system for $180, and for the 2nd gen they have an ultimate one for like $400. They also have coils that go with the system.

ignition/tires

As far as the tires go, 205/60/13 is the largest for your rims. If you want the best get michelin. As far as the ignition system goes the stock system is more than adequate for the hp you are making. Never had a problem with the stock setup.
You might gain some idle quality with jacobs system. I personally would spend the money on some quality wires like accels 300+ thundersports or when ngk finally releases their new power cables, if they do in the us. Dyno testing done on
a vtec honda made 1.8 hp over stock, and with the ngk's 2.7hp over stock. Now
i don't know what it will do for ours but i run them on my se and my eclipse both.
rx7doctor As far as the tires go i ran the xgt series and they stuck like glue.

just do a DLIDFIS..works as good as the MSD 6A/Al for almost nothing. Works fine on stock coils and NGK wires as well.

DLIDFIS only requires one extra ignitor and one extra stock coil, plus a little wiring and a thin piece of aluminum. With DLIDFIS, your spending requirements will be quite low, which is an excuse to spend money on upgrading something else.

I did a search on DLIDFIS and found like a billion posts on it, none of them with a good writeup on how to do it. Its like the TB mod in the 2nd gen forum

I am looking to replace my ignition system with a distributor type off a 12a, and I was wondering where I could find information on how exactly to do this "DLIDFIS"

The info is kinda outdated now, but it's a good place to start. http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/dlidfis.html
