Hi--

I'm replacing the defroster grilles in the dashboard of my 85 GSL, but when I actually went to install them, it wasn't clear how they fit...

To be clear: these are the grilles along the top of the dashboard, right next to the windshield.

Does anyone have pics of their dashboard, clearly showing the grilles and their appearance?

I'm reluctant to try to force the pieces in any way as they are fragile.

My assumption has been that they can be installed without removing the dashboard; please tell me that's right....

That pic looks like the older style dash. The ones from the 84-85 should go in just fine. be careful, they are super fragile if they have been in the sun their whole life!

Yes, initially it seemed like they should pop right in; when they seemed to require additional "force" I decided to hold back until I could get some images to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

They look to be the right shape and size, but the opening in the dash doesn't seem "deep" enough, and they bottom out when I try to insert them.

Damn these are hard to take. Between glare off the windshield and autofocus wanting to focus on relflections from the windshield....

With the pics and comments provided here, I was able to get my vent grilles safely installed.
