Looking for a hold-over carb for my baby

Hey Guys,

Not sure if any of you will remember me, but my silver baby was a gift from my mum. She bought it from a husband-wife couple that had been driving it minimally years back, but about four years ago she tarped it in the driveway and left her (poor thing)

Any case, I replaced the starter, master and slave clutch cyls, and fuel filter. Unseized the engine, and got the brake pads/shoes off as well. But we could only get her running by spraying gas in through the carb constantly.

In any case, I send out a plea to all those who've upgraded their stock Nikki's, if anyone has a working carb for a 1984 GS 12A, please e-mail or post here. I'd love to get my baby running this summer, but since I wanna port, I don't want to shell out the 733 USD for a Holley intake kit before I have the money to port it.

Sounds good, but I would rather something closer, since those things are frikken' heavy, and to send one to Canada.... well it would probably be cheaper at that point to get one from Mazda!

Name a price and figure shipping to Canada, postal code J9H 3V9, and we'll see, it may be my only course of action...

Anyone else?

These carbs look like a nice setup to me. I was actually going to buy them, but unfortunatly I had to use some of the $ to fix my brake system, so I could no longer buy them

Not even close. A stock Nikki carb from mazdamotorsports.com at DEALER COST is just under $1200 USD. Your best bet is buying an overhaul kit and rebuilding the carb. They're only $38 CDN at PartSource, so the investment isn't massive. Failing that, there should be scads of RX-7's in boneyards around your area for you to scavage a carb from.

The RX-7 Heaven in Gloucester is the only place with Rex parts because they buy them from all the junkyards. I called them and they have no carbs available.

Coldy13 - Thanks bud, but I'm not looking to make a huge carb investment until I get my engine ported, hopefully next year or the year after. I'm just looking for a stock nikki, or even someone in the Ottawa-Gatineau area (or even within 2 hours drive) that can teardown and rebuild mine! Or hell, even better instructions than the shop manual has (my carb doesn't look the same as the one there)

Any case, thanks everyone, if anyone comes across something closer, I'm still looking.

The more I talk to people about it, the more it seems that the carb is probably rebuildable....

Anyone within 3 hours of Ottawa willing to give me a hand? It'd definitely be worth some money.

Mine seems different from the one in the Heynes manual, and I'm confused to all hell about rebuilding it myself.

Michigan's not bad, you're right up close to the boarder

How much are you asking, and what year/model car did it come off of?

Thanks guys (messaged Fenix_sr and V8Kilr)

If anyone else has offers, feel free to make them.

Also, are there any differences between:
84 and 85 Stock Nikkis
GS and GSL Stock Nikkis
