Looking for bigger rear end gears for GSL-SE
I think the Kia Sportage gears fit the FC differentials correct? But would they work in a GSL-SE differential?
Or would someone have a recomendation where I could find 4.88 - 5.00 ring and pinion for the SE?
Thanks!

not loss of power but more like having a governor on the freeway if youre using a 4.78 as you will be out of gears by the time you get to 80mph. 4.44 is different, I have taken my FB to about 130. But on the other hand, 4.78 is fun on the street

Guess I should have explained first..
This is not for a street car, drag project only, so I dont care about fuel economy or whatever lol.
So you think the Sportage ring and pinion will directly fit eh? which years and models should I look for in the scrap yards.

Oh, drag car eh? lol. In that case, just search for "kia gears" or something like that. Several threads on the subject going into great detail w/pics and everything if I remember correctly. There might even be a writeup in the Archive now that I think about it. But yeah, the Kia gears are probably what you're looking for....

Things I would consider
The KIA front diffy has a 7" ring. Im not sure if it the FC has the same size. The issue as others have mentioned is the short pnion shaft VS long for FC. Im not sure either if the pre-86's diffy housing will bolt up to a FC.
