check the engines compression. look for rust everywhere! rust is never a good thing. as far as mods, few foreing cars this hold have the innumerable modding options as the rx7. is it a gsl-se??

Take a philips head screwdriver to the four screws that hold the storage bins in place. Remove the bins, it's real easy, and inspect the inside of the rear wheel wells. This is the 1st Gen's achillies heal. The rust in this area can get very bad on some cars to the point of sticking your hand through it. If there is no rust or just a little rust there then you've got a solid car.

What model of '84 RX-7 is it (GS, GSL, GSL-SE)? Has it been modified at all? And what IS the asking price??

Have you taken it for a drive?.. been up to redline through 3rd gear? How's the acceleration?

Oh yeah, and remeber to check all of the accessories to see if they work. It's not a deal breaker, but if some or none of them don't work you could end up spending money on fixing them or all afternoon chasing electrical problems.
