Man the poor 7 didn't even blink when he turned the wheel, it just kept cruising straight for destruction. I had to watch it twice to make sure it wasn't just him forgetting to turn the wheel.

I think the poor guy experienced Total Brain Fart and used his old old dry-pavement braking point, which was about a mile too late. I've done it on Gran Turismo, but never into a wrecker!

I'll bet the wrecker guys were initially pissed and then thankful that they were out of harm's way. Wonder how bad the truck was tore up, he went right into the rear wheel.

second lesson... dont park your damn truck in the line of a possible out of control rx7. lol

they always say "stay in the car" when stuff like that happens so you can recover a little. they tell you not to jump right out.

I was at that race. The truck wasn't hurt in any way. The RX-7........not so good.

That's what happens when you don't pay attention to flags.

The good news is the moron who was driving the RX-7 didn't hurt any workers.

ahh... maybe 30 seconds tops that wreck does blow ***, but thats the risk you take when you race.. the sole purpose of a track car, so you dont have to catch a ride to work/school the next day/2 months

I notice everybody is very quick to badmouth the RX7 driver. Personally I think whoever parked a truck in a runoff area of a race track is an idiot. The truck should be behind barriers.

Or if your gonna park the truck there, why waste a whole heap of perfectly good tyres making a tyre barrier.

Does not make sense!

the truck was parked there because they were doing a "hot pull" where another car spun. i agree that it shouldnt have been directly in the line like that, but thats basically what the corner workers do, they go out in dangerous spots and hook up cars to the truck and pull them out. thats what the yellow flag is for, to prevent that. i dont know if that guy didnt see the flag or whatever, but im sure there was yellow out and that just shouldnt happen under any yellow.

If you look to the left side of the track, just at the turn, there is a corner worker waving a flag, looks yellow to me. He just wasnt paying attention IMHO. Hope he got "talked to" after that incident.

As Spec RX-7 mentioned, they were doing a hot pull so that they could remove a disabled car without stopping the race. This happens all the time in road racing. The truck was on the track surface because if it went off track, they were affraid it would get stuck (obviously making the situation worse).

There were waving yellow flags and white flags being displayed at the two prior turns. There were workers out signalling to the drivers to slow down and move to the other side of the track.

The driver of that RX-7 is a nice guy, but he had his head up his *** on this deal. Luckily, nobody was hurt due to his lapse of thinking.

Drivers need to remember that we're strapped into nice safe cars and are wearing protective gear. The volunteers who make it possible for us to race don't have that luxury and are very vulnerable.
