my girlfriend and i loaded up the seven, grabbed a bunch of good cd's and hit the highway, pensacola FL to lufkin TX, and had one hell of a time! 550 miles one way and grinning ear to ear! keep in mind i've got eibach springs. so who says they're too stiff:p that's actually what i'm trying to do with my car... create the ultimate road trip cross country fun machine. i've got a 12 disc changer to handle the tunes, a loud stereo so we can hear it over the pacemaker...oops, i mean pacesetter exhaust(same thing) and the A/C works too! i just wish i got the illuminas to tone down the ride just a tad through louisiana, but no major gripes. next trip: indiana to florida.... about 750 miles one way. 12 hours in her ford ranger, but i'm thinking we'll cut quite a bit off that time with the seven!

I've had several long distance trips. These are the longest.
Monterey Ca to Richmond Ky and back twice. One of these was made in 39 hours.
Monterey Ca to Ft. Bragg NC.

well i have gone from coast to coast... not at 1 time but i have done Atl. Ga to Denver Co. 8 times 1457 miles door to door. and went to s.d. cali and got my l.e. and drove it to Denver, then to ohio and back to denver.....8k miles in a month DAM. the record from denver to atl was 22.56 and that included a 4 hour nap in st. l. and only got 1 "speeding award " in all them trips.

Hey rotorhead I have the same set up as you. 85 se with pacesetter headers and exhaust, and Eibach springs all the way around. I think it is a bit stiff but not too bad. However my AC isn't working at the moment.

I'm planning on picking up an 84 GSL-SE next weekend in New York and driving it about 800 miles to Tennessee. That will be the ULTIMATE test for me and my new "7". Wish me luck.

Next time you should try to make it here: http://www.q-net.net.au/~orinoco/easter.html . The scenery is amazing!

So far, Bloomington, MN to Marco sland, FL. I think it was 1200ish miles one way.

The wife's been talking about Sacremento, CA for vacation sometime. I'll be driving ('cause I LIKE it!) and she'll be flying. What's that from Bloomington, MN? Lke 2100 miles?

Take care,

I'll be driving from Toronto Canada to SevenStock next year. I wanted to go this year but I had to work. Anyways, acording to MapQuest it's 2514.2 Mi from my house to Irvine CA.
Twenty five hundred miles with my GF in my SE.
Kinda hard to top that, eh?

MARRY HER! D@mn! Well, if she doesn't kill you on the trip there or back.

I wish my wife could stand that. She's a flyer. She'd fly to Duluth If I let her. I got too many complaints on the way to Elkhart Lake, WI (north of Milwaukee) from Bloomington, MN to even consider asking her to drive to FL or CA with me. I'm actually surprised that she wanted to go the the Midwest Rotary Rendezvous in the first place. Sevenstock would make her homicidal.

Take care,

Last November I drove my '85 7 from Los Angeles to Memphis TN in 2 days, a 2000 mile drive. Along the way I reached the 100,000 mile mark on the odometer, not that I was looking forward to that moment :0 There were no problems except that being a California car all its life, the car had never been exposed to the freezing cold. So when I stopped overnight in the New Mexico desert, I woke up to a cracked power-steering pump. So I drove the rest of the way without powersteering which wasn't bad at all since it was all freeways. Great car!

I just returned from my first road trip using my recently acquired '84 GSl-SE with 160k on the clock. All stock. Niagara Falls, Canada, was the destination from central PA. About 1100 miles round trip. The car performed very well and I enjoyed the drive immensly.

One item that needed attention was the positive cable connection to the battery terminal. The cable is aluminum conductor, not copper. Two small bolts secure the cable to the battery clamp. Corrosion there caused a no start condition one morning. I cut the end and freshened it up. There was no visible corrosion that looked bad.

Did 7's use an aluminum cable as std. or is this aftermarket?

Pittsburgh to Nashville, 1200 round trip.

Pittsburgh to Lexington, 800 round trip.

Pittsburgh to Niagra falls, 400 round trip.

That's in the 3 months I've owned the car

longest road trip!

San Deigo to Fairbanks, Alaska: 3700 miles - never missed a beat...
Bought my RX there via ebay, October 2 yrs ago - best road trip of my life:
perfect weather, NO TRAFFIC, spectacular scenery, took every secondary hwy I could find. would do it again in a heartbeat if I could spare the time. Tho tooling around alaska in the summer isn't too bad

Mine was a 50 mile drive to where I used to go to college (about an hour away). On the way home though, the car broke down several times and it took me about 2 1/2 hours to get back home. Needless to say, I don't trust my 7 to go on any long trips yet.

I've gone on longer trips before, but this past weekend's trip had me a little concerned. About three hundred miles to a three day Solo I event and back. I've never pushed my old girl so hard as I did for those three days, but she still purred like a kitten all the way home. The only issue I had was when my power wire to my e-fan worked itself loose and fell off, but luckily I noticed the temp gauge right away before it got very warm. Great weekend, but I'm still exhausted...
