Long Time 2nd gen owner /w a new FB

Greeting Gents I'm new to first gens but have been a 7 owner for a long time. after having to sell my last 7 *about 3 years ago now* i got a deal i couldn't pass up a 1982 with a straight body but rats got inside and **** it up pretty good. the paint is gody *gloss black /w red metallic spots on it* and the paint is pealing away. Owner said it ran last time he drove it *4 years ago* although I'm starting to worry about compression. but it did come with a full long block 12a that was carbon locked. I spent $350 on it i am hoping that i can get the compression to come up a bit more before i get ready to fire it up.

this is a project car. but i have high hopes to get it up and running hopefully soon.

I've been reading up allot so far. right now the plans are
*finish ripping out the interior. clean what i can and use some of the thin universal carpeting

*get the motor up and running again. i am preying to god that i won't have to rebuild this engine to get it up but only after i do some more atf treatment and get a compression tester on it will i know.

* in the mean time i am going to mod a Niki carb myself. I am a EFI guy and know standalone engine management. so i have a feeling that rebuilding and modding a carb will get me good and familiar with how a carb works and read up in the mean time on tuning one.

Hopefully i will get to the point that i can provide decent input on the forums. and have already seen a quite a few people on this forum that i have great respect for. and allot of people that have a similar outlook on things.
