I think as long as you have a RB muffler, you will be fine. The exhaust is too quiet to draw too many attention.

i have rb headers to pre, to the muffler. the pre muffles a great deal. on steady cruises and idle, id like to say its quieter than stock. but at WOT it lets out a good roar.

RB Header, 2.5 inch pipe, straight through magnaflow. I've gotten ticketed for altered exhaust. Went to court and had to pay $50.

RB 3" downpipe,Bonez muffler,3" piping,RB streetport style muffler.

Been pulled over only once for loud exhaust. Its healthy, but not overly loud.....kinda a typical muted turbo engine whoosh.Went to the refferee, got tested and passed the CA noise emissions test by 3db.
Took the certificate to traffic court and the judge threw out the $50 ticket.Thankfully,I took the test a week before they started charging $35 for the ref. noise test......now they get your money whether you win or lose.

I keep the ref. certificate in my car along with the regs and insurance cards.....I doubt Ill ever get another noise pollution ticket.
The RB standard muffler is very quiet,I highly doubt youll get popped, even with a header. The streetport version is a little louder, but still not bad.Headers make it loud compared to the stock manifold, but a cat or presilencer will help.
The S5 style turbo I use does very little to quiet the exhaust since its a full twin-scroll unit, the merged inlet S4 turbo is significantly quieter.......my cat does more to keep things muffled than the turbine.

not yet but i will, i plan on replaceig my whole set up with rb. but two days ago me and my body did a red neck muffle swap. i got one of those cheap carbon fiber mufflers from ebay. 1 in 2 out setup. (yeha i know ricer ricer) but the stock muffler was rusted out. my car is only going to be on the road for a few more weeks so i said what the hell. when its off the road ill do it right.

we unbolted the stock muffler , i cut the pipe right at the base of the muffler so we still had the hanger bolt bracket. then welded on a slip conecter to that. slide it on the muffler and clamped down. i got a hanger that goes around the muffler. i re shaped the hanger with my hands so the bolt that tightens it is on the left side. i the put the bolt thur one side of the hanger the the stock hanger tab on the car, the in to the other side of the muffle hanger. (does that make sense ill get a pic when i have a chance. i didnt have to mod any thing on the car so when i get the rb it will bolt right back up with no fab work.

started the car up sound pretty dam good little louder but not to bad.my car backfired when cold like alot of rx7's.made the backfire sound more live able. then me and my buddy went for a ride, sounded pretty good little loud but still legal.
during the drive my buddy was asking me about the rx7's he has seen that shoot flames ect . we got back and my buddy wanted to see how it sounded from behind the car. i rev it a little past 1500 . and all i see is my buddy fall over lol. he said ben get out of the car and check this out. he got in the car and rev it. omg blue and orange flames. its pretty dam funny. it wount shoot flames unless u make it back fire alittle.

the next day on my way to work i stoped on a hill and the guy was rideing my ***. i said ill show him at the light i made it shoot flames . he got off my *** and every time he started to ride my *** id take it out of gear and make it shoot flames. lol

flame away.

Nope. RB Road Race header. That's it. Amazingly loud and I got lucky. Turbo set up will be down pipe->Borla XR-1->Rotaflo dumpy, all 3 inch.
