Talking LOL, busted my windshield!

So, I'm pulling the interior and got into the dash-removal tango. Thought about my options and decided that if I took out the windshield it would ease the project, not to mention allow me to get in the window area to clean and POR15 (rust proof) it. Whelp, my windshield has leaked since I bought the car so I knew exactly where to begin wedging it off. I grabbed a couple of flat tools and started stripping the goo which held the windshield on. 3 or 4 swipes into it, "clack", oh... to the sum of about 8 inches. I smirked a bit (couldn't have cared less) but man, was it easy to break. I did slow down a bit after that for my own safety, I dunno, is it safe to work with broken safety glass(?), but I broke that B-I up pretty good in the process. I cannot believe how easy it was to break, how dirty it is in there, and that there is no rust in there. If anything, the 1" of dirt was probaby acting as a water barrier! Anywho, thought I'd share this funny momeny is my restoration.

I still haven't figured out how to get the central heater piece out (under the dash thingy) so that I can get clearance to put in new carpet.

I know the feeling... This happened in the process of getting my roll bar in place. One step forwards, two steps back.

Like a girdle on a fat chick, one good tap and it pops. Honestly, you would not believe how I babied the window through out the later removal just to see what the threshold was.
When you get yours replaced, what are your plans for the metal pieces surrounding the window? Mine are in good shape, minus paint that is. But, I kind of think I would like the etire trim up-top replaced. Know of any trim alternatives to make the top seamless? I mean, these 5-6 metal covers are quite fugly in the grand-scheme of current technology.
