Limited Edition Info

I found a 1981 Limited Edition in the junkyard for basicly free. The motor turned over (i could make it turn), the guy said he drove the car in the yard a year ago so i figure the motor is rebuildable. Everything is still in one piece so i guess im ready to own another 1st gen

Anyways, i cant seem to find any info at all on the Limited Edition 1st gens. What year did they first come out? Im hoping they came with LSD rear end like the gsl, and gsl-se cars did but i have a feeling it doesnt lol. Anyone with any info would definatly be appreciated. Thank you.

The only limiteds were the 79 i think it was. And the 83' which I have. The 83' is just a fancy silver color with facny wheels. And all red interior. It's basicly a GS. No LSD and has rear drums. If its a 81 it's not a limited edition im pretty sure.

Hey, thanks for the info. On the door it said 1980 wich means its an 81 but built in 80 right? Maybe its a door off another car? It definatly had a little limited edition emblem I guess ill just have to check it out alittle closer, i was in a rush at the time. The guy said soon hes gonna crush all the rx-7's he has. They all have motors that at least turn over, he just doesnt wanna take the motors out and sell them that way. I told him not to crush em and set em all aside for me, even if i dont buy them haha. Poor little 7's. If i had the room for more cars i would have taken them all. Maybe ill take some parts off some other cars and throw them in the LE.

North Carolina, eh? If it gets close to crush time let me know. It sounds like it'd be worth a road trip to save them from premature death.

Nope no lsd's, just a few 7's that noone cares about. Maybe ill end up taking them all. I cant stand to see them get crushed just to make room for some "newer cars". Im gonna cry.

Save the "7"s PLEASE!! Almost anything can be restored, but it gets real hard after they've been crushed!

My 83 was built in April of 83 and its still a 83, so saying its built in 80 doens't nessesary mean its an 81. and import guy is right, only 79 and 83 had LE's, 80 had a "Leather Sport" and "anniversay X edition" but no LE. Grab it before it gets crushed.

Depends on the car maker. Some 86 nissan trucks were 86's and some were 86 1/2 (same as a 87, but sold as 86's)

Now most of the time the cut off is usually June.. My 80 was made in like June or July of 79 and it was an 80...

The Sienna mini vans we are making are gonna be 2004's and they are tagged with a CR label as 12/02

Friday.................................... and i got the car. Its a 83 Limited Edition. Not too bad of shape, i got the engine to fire a few times. The only real downer is that the interior is no good, or missing. Everything else is there though. Under the car its banged up. After checking everything out, i can see how the fb's are alot nicer than sa's in many ways. Maybe ill restore this baby. So yeah, after all its an 1983. Power mirrors is pretty nice and still work. Cool.

I meant to say its banged up alittle under the door area sort of under the car, not like the trans or anything too imortant. That will be fun to get back to shape. Windshield is cracked too.

Very nice car. I like the wheels, too. I thought it came in just a champagne color. If I could get a nice one, or make a nice one out of a not-bad car, I'd bump my 85GSL.
