Anyone interested in having a sunroof made out of plexi or lexan? I know a guy who works at a glass shop and he can make an exact replica of the 1st gen sunroof.. Would anyone be interested? The lexan will run about $100 or so shipped.... It gets cheaper the more I order.. Any interest?

Yeah, the stock glass ones aren't impossible to get, and they go for about the same price. That includes all the mounting hardware and the fact that they're smoked. You won't save much weight with the lexan, and if you're racing and worried about it you can either get the plexi ones that are out there, or switch to metal.

Now replace the hatch glass, then you're talking weight savings... Do all the glass and you'd be doing well

Personally I don't see the need. Maybe when the glass ones have gone the way of the dodo, or if this one ends up somehow geting cheaper than fifty bucks (what glass ones often go for on here).

I have the factory "Moon Roof". Tinted to dark grey. Anything that reproduces it would be fine.

Seems like a lot of work and money to save 50-60 lbs.

I had no idea how little the glass weighed on the 7's!
