There are tutorials on Youtube on how to use it and it comes in different flavors to include chrome.
Its easy to apply and can be put on curved surfaces without any problem. Self-adhesive also.
Should do the trick for all you guys that have the chrome interior trim.
Looks very similar to the gold-leafing process... How durable is it, once applied?

I'm also tempted to try this out on a set of cast armrest tips, just to see how it works.

If its fragile you could clearcoat it after its done with some heavy duty wheel clear
coat or something to protect it. Yellowing may be an issue tho.

I wonder if a process slimier to Spectra Chrome could be used for the chrome bits?

The 'good' set I made were in fact SpectraChromed. That was by the supplier that was so difficult to work with, & expensive. Finish looked very good, though. Had a small drip bubble on the bottom of one, but it is invisible when installed.

In the below photos, the left piece was vacuum-aluminized, the one on the right was SpectraChromed.

Just looked at the SpectreChrome process, no wonder its expensive, 3 coats of paint,
special dual nozzle spray gun, extra equipment may be needed to help with the
spraying.

Quality always costs more. Seems like anymore you pay good money just for mediocre.

A few shots for SA groupie's. The GS interior has an old Grant whl and new(er) shift & ebrake boots. I don't remember where I sourced that piece of foam on the ebrake handle, but I wished I'd have saved a few more feet of it. The Limited interior shows the original blue / grey velour pretty accurately. Doesn't look like it, but that blue is a bitch to match. Put blue beside it and it looks black. Put black beside it and it looks blue?

Hey DD would you foresee an issue with that trim for the doors if it is also threaded there?

This is May's interior and the chrome missing from the doors bugs me a little

I'm not sure how you'd stitch it on, Ray; it's very dense vinyl, be impossible to hook a needle through it. I'll get you some close-up pics of my last pieces of it tonight.

The early 79's had different trim, too - - a double-chrome line with a woodtone center, like on your dash there.

sorry I probably phrased poorly , I meant if it would stick to the thread portion of the panel. And of course you were correct on the 79 door trim, I was just brain storming ... yes it hurt a little

My maroon interior was in sad shape a year ago. I had the seats reupholstered, repainted the door panels, shift ****, steering wheel horn, new shift boot, armrest cover and steering wheel cover.

Where did you get the steering wheel cover? Is it a sew on? Did you use SEM paint on the painted parts. I still can't find a good color match.

It's a leather sew on. I got it from Amazon. I used two kinds of paint. One was for hard plastic and the other was for vinyl surfaces. Both were just called "maroon". Found them online too. I can't remember the brand (I'm away on vacation now and can't access the cans, but they weren't SEM brand). When I get back in a week I can PM you with the brands of paint and steering wheel cover.
