1984 FB ignition switch wiring? (blk/red, and blk/yel?)

Hey there guys! I'm an FD owner who just bought an '84 GSL today. My first carbureted car haha. Anyways i'm taking out the alarm since it was preventing the starter from getting any power and they seriously rigged this wiring job, badly. I'm trying to put everything back to stock but I have the blk/red wire coming from the ignition switch, and don't know where it's supposed to go? I tried looking on wiring diagrams but i couldnt find much and when i did find something it just said blk/red or blk/yel? I have this blk/yel wire thats not hooked up either so are they supposed to be connected? Thanks

(Basically, the 2 wires with the purple wire coming out of them, should they be connected? Blk/red at one end, blk/yel at the other?)

I could not find a BR colored wire on the 12A ignition switch, but I did find one on the 13B ignition switch and verified it on my spare 13B switch. Looking at section A2 page 50:12 the BR wire goes to section B2 page 50:16 Circuit Opening Relay.

My suggestion would be to trace the BY wire the purple wire is connected to. This will at least let you know which circuit this BR wire is supping in your current configuration. If it traces back to connector B-29 Circuit Opening Relay (on section B2 page 50:16).

I'll look at my 1985 GSL and 1985 GSL-SE and see where my BR wire connects and post a pic.

All of my information is based right now on just reading over the FSM wiring diagram. You will want to download this section if you don't already have it.

http://www.foxed.ca/rx7manual/manual...g_Diagrams.pdf

Based on the pages for 12A (page 50:8) and 13B (page 50:9) the 12A ignition switch does not have a BR. Open up the wiring diagram and follow this logic:

12A Page 50:8 Ignition Switch has an IG1 (dotted line) terminal that has a BW wire.

13B Page 50:9 Ignition Switch has an IG1 and IG2 terminals.

I don't want to dig any lower then this because I need to confirm that the BR wire is actually on a 12A ignition switch. I have both 12A GSL and a 13B GSL-SE cars sitting in my barn so I'll get better information to night.

Don't worry about the circuit opening relay I spoke of. That's for a 13B.

One thing you might do is to trace out on paper where each of the current wires go before removing anything.

I looked at my GSL but really couldn't tell a lot. I didn't want to take the lower dash piece off. You might have to find someone that has their lower dash taken apart.
