length of dip stick

I have a s5 13b in my 1st gen and have a first gen front cover and oil pan. What is the length of the oil dip stick do I need? I put in 4quarts and stick shows nothing.

The lenght of a Se dipstick measured from the sealing point(rubber where it meets the engine) to the tip is approx 10 5/8 inches.
